High school sweethearts Teresa 28, a consultant, and Burt 33, a digital artist, often drove by signs pointing To Hakone Gardens, an 18 - acre Japanese-style estate in Northern California, but they never stopped. One day, on a whim, the two pulled over, fill in love with the place, and joked that they should get married on the grounds.

Well! they did in a colorful ceremony that artfully mixed Western and Asian elements. Before feasting on international fare and dancing to songs played on a boom box, the pair married in front of 80 guests-including family from Taiwan-on a bridge that Burt, an amateur carpenter, spent two weekend constructing.
